Woman raped at Sohna, accused on the run

A woman working as an insurance agent in Gurugram was raped on Sunday evening.

The incident has been reported from Sohna that is 30 kilometres from the Millennium City.The accused, Amit who is also a car insurance agent is still at large, said police.
The rape survivor hails from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the accused was known to the survivor.

On Sunday evening, citing an interesting business proposal, the accused called the victim to Sohna Road in Gurugram from where he drove her to Sohna.

Following this, he raped her in a desolated place and then left her at the spot.

"We are trying to get more information in the case. The rape survivor at the moment seems nervous and anxious and is not feeling very comfortable in answering the questions. Our objective is not only to nab the culprit but also to make sure that the woman is stable.

We are therefore nor exerting enough pressure on her," said Birem Singh, ACP Sohna region.

This is the second incident of rape that has been reported in less than a week from Sohna area.

Earlier, a woman from Udaka village in Sohna had alleged of gang rape and robbery of Rs12 lakhs.

After facing hardships, she finally registered a complaint with the Nuh Police.

The issue has again raised questions over the security of women in the outskirts of Gurugram.

After the horrific Manesar gang rape incident, the Gurugram Police
had announced the slew of measures to improve the safety and security of women in areas of Manesar, Sohna, Pataudi and Farrukhnagar. The measures involve installation of CCTV to legally registering the drivers of public transport systems.
