The first day of working week again proved to be the challenging experience for commuters as early rain showers on Monday again resulted in a chaotic situation along major traffic routes of Gurugram.
The city witnessed severe traffic snarls along four intersections of NH-8 starting from Shankar Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Rajiv Chowk.
Besides NH-8 complaints of traffic blockades and water logging were reported from areas of Sohna Road, Old Delhi Road, MG Road Golf Course Road and Jharsa Road.
Thousands of vehicles were left stranded. The order could only be restored by late afternoon.
Just like Friday, the officials of Gurugram Police came on the city roads to manage the traffic situation.
This included Station Head Officials (SHO), who was seen managing the traffic as early 6 am.
The Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar and the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) V Umashankar jointly inspected the traffic situation at the Hero Honda Chowk. "It is a challenge as well as an opportunity for us to manage the traffic situation. Even though it amounts to a gruelling schedule at the end of it feels good when the commuter expresses his gratefulness to us," said an official from Gurugram Police.
While the role of cops was again appreciated, most of the commuters criticised the District administrators for failing to revamp the infrastructure and clean the drains.
