On Friday at around 8 am, a body of a baby girl was recovered from a garbage dump at Sultan Pur Road in Farrukhnagar.
The District Police has still not been able to ascertain the identity of the baby and has sent the body for forensic investigations.
A senior official at Farrukhnagar, however, stated that it may be possible that the baby is just a few days old. The cops have begun its investigation and trying to identify the baby's parents.
Recently, a seven-month-old girl was found on the night of June 9 at Sirhaul Village along the Delhi-Gurugram expressway.
In a worrying trend, such cases of parents abandoning baby girls have been reported not only from the outskirts but also in the posh localities in the city.
Female infanticide is still a major challenge in Gurugram.
While the public officials state that recently launched schemes have improved the female sex ratio in the district, they concede that there are many illegal abortion clinics that are functioning in and around the city.
Despite being the richest district in Haryana, Gurugram is one of
the poorly rated districts in terms of female to male sex ratio.
"Female infanticide has always been a major problem in South Haryana with Gurugram District being the leader. Even though the situation has improved a bit, challenges still remain.
"On our part we are cracking down on the clinics that encourage abortion of a female child," said a senior cop.
