14-year-old raped for more than week by neighbour, manhunt on

Adding to the list of crimes committed against children, a minor was raped by his neighbour in Rohini's Samaypur Badli area on Monday.

The accused had sexually assaulted the minor for over a week and also threatened the teen of dire consequences. The police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.

According to a senior police official, the victim is a 14-year-old girl who lives with her mother in Samaypur Badli. Her father had passed away last year. The victim has two brothers and one sister and is presently studying in class ninth in a local government school.

The accused had reportedly made contact with the girl over a week ago. The victim in her complaint alleged that she was raped by the neighbour repeatedly over the period of one week.

Also, she was threatened by the accused that he would kill her mother with his gun. Fearing the loss, she kept the incident to herself. However, when she was found visibly distressed and started vomiting, her mother took her to a local hospital. Following a medical check-up, the sexual assault came to light.

After the FIR was registered, the cops tried to track down the accused. He has been identified as a labourer in Samaypur's industrial area. His co-workers have also been contacted in connection with the case.

"We have registered a case against the accused who is absconding. We have made a list of close acquaintances and relatives in the locality and he will soon be apprehended," the official said.

Meanwhile, the police have roped in a local NGO to counsel the teenager.
