Mobile jammers installed in Bhondsi jail

Taking cognisance over reports of the prisoners lodged in Bhondsi jail in Gurugram using mobile phones, the jail authorities have begun the process of installing mobile jammers in the jail premises.
Under the phases, first jammers have already been installed.
The jammer will block the mobile signals within a range of 70 metres.
With a large number of dreaded gangsters locked up in Bhondsi jail in Gurugram, the officials are becoming wary of the gangsters carrying out their nefarious activities inside jail premises.
Criminals from as many as six dreaded gangs are presently being locked up in the city jail.
These gangs include Manjeet Mahal gang, Kaushal gang, Kishan gang, Hayatpuri gang, Sandeep Gadoli gang and Binder Gujjar gang. Most of the members of these gangs have been charged with serious offences like extortion, burglaries, and murders.
Along with the reports of cell phones being used inside the jail, incidents of a violent scuffle between the rival gang members have been reported from the Bhondsi Jail.
Looking at the dangers involved, Sumit Kumar DCP (Crime) Gurugram Police had recently to the Tihar authorities requesting
him if certain criminals can be transferred to Delhi.
