Sanitation officials suspended for dereliction of duty

A sanitary inspector, three assistant sanitary inspectors, one sanitary guide and a leader of sanitation employee union in Civil Line Zone of North Delhi Municipal Corporation have been suspended for alleged dereliction of duties.

According to an official of North MCD, the Deputy Commissioner of Civil Line Zone conducted an inspection of the area on Friday to check sanitation levels. Subsequently, ward number-7 N was found to be filled with garbage and its drains filthy, following which the Deputy Commissioner suspended the workers.

"North Corporation suspended six officials with immediate effect for dereliction of duties. One was suspended for insubordination and disobeying superiors," said an official statement.

"Sudhir, a sanitary inspector of ward number 13-N, along with five others have been placed under suspension with immediate effect," the order issued by the Additional Commissioner, Civil Line Zone.

North MCD Commissioner, PK Gupta, said, "We have issued repeated and strict instructions to improve sanitation services, but they were not paying any heed. Hence we took action."
