Man mowed down by speeding truck

A man in his late 30's died after he was hit by a speeding truck in North East Delhi on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Sushil Kumar Mishra, a resident of Uttam Vihar.

So far, the police have not been able to establish the exact sequence of events. Mishra's body has been sent to the local mortuary for post-mortem.

According to police, the incident came to light when a passerby spotted Mishra' body near Wazirabad. He immediately made a PCR call to the police, after which a local police team reached the spot and took his body to GTB Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The police have also confiscated the offending truck, which was found abandoned in the vicinity of the accident spot.

"We have traced the owner of the vehicle. The details of the accused are still being investigated, we are confident that he will be caught," said a senior police official.
