10-year-old girl raped by teenage relative

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her teenage relative on Tuesday after he lured her inside his house in Outer Delhi's Mangolpuri area and threatened the girl saying he would kill her younger brother if she speaks out about the incident.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm when the girl was shifting some items inside her house when the accused approached her.

He asked her to come to his house in the neighbourhood by claiming that her mother was looking for her after which he raped her.

However, the girl complained of stomach pain and when her grandmother enquired, the minor narrated the entire incident after which the accused was confronted.

He kept denying about the incident and then handed over to the police.

He has been produced before a Juvenile justice board and has been sent to a correctional home for boys.

According to police, the girl lives with her mother, grandmother and two younger siblings. Her father passed away a year ago after battling with a serious illness. Her mother is the sole bread earner of the house.

The girl was taken to a local hospital for a medical examination where it was confirmed that she was raped. Later, a case was registered against the accused and sent to a correctional home.

"The accused has been sent to a correctional home. A local NGO has been roped in to counsel the girl about the traumatic incident," said a police official.

However, alleging that false rape case was filed against the accused, the teenager's family also reportedly threatened the victim's family and asked to withdraw the case.
