Two teenagers take plunge in Yamuna, drown

In a tragic incident, two teenagers drowned while bathing in the Yamuna River in Burari of North Delhi on Wednesday. The bodies of the boys were found by the rescue team.

The deceased, 13-year-old Himanshu Singh and 14-year-old Manish Kumar from Pradhan Enclave in Burari had gone for a morning walk with two other friends along the riverside.

Then, one of the kids decided to take off his clothes and swim in the river to beat the heat. However, he soon began to move towards the deeper side and started to drown. It was then when his friend Manish tried to rescue him but he too lost his balance and drowned.

Seeing their friends go out of vision, the other two children informed the locals who rushed to their rescue. However, when the locals failed to find the boys, the police were called.

Following this, the fire brigade was called and the rescue team on boats arrived at the accident site. The search operation was on roll with the onlookers gathered at the shores along with the family members of the drowned children.

Unfortunately, despite maximum efforts by the rescue teams and an hour after the search operation, only the bodies were discovered. Both died in the incident. After this, the bodies were sent for the post-mortem.

"Himanshu slipped while bathing and fell into the deep side of the river. Manish tried to save him and both drowned. The other two then called the locals and the police were informed," the officer said.
