Rs 40 crore could be the cost of just 5 kg drug that has been seized by Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday. With this, the cell claims to have busted 'International syndicate' involved in drug peddling of contraband drug 'MDMA' (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) which is a 'Party Drug' and popularly known as 'ICE'.
Four people who were involved in the drug peddling racket have been arrested. This drug is floated virtually in all parts of India and abroad as well. Besides, UAE, UK, USA and other Middle-East countries are also their clienteles. The kingpin of this gang has been identified as 'Kailash Rajput', who is settled in Dubai (UAE) for many years now.
"Rajput is controlling this international drug syndicate from Dubai and Abu Aslam Qasim Azmi alias Aslam, who is stationed in Mumbai. Aslam is his right-hand man, who looks after the network of this drug cartel in India. Abu Aslam Qasim Azmi has been arrested from a Five Star Hotel in Mumbai," said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP Special Cell. The other arrested are Avdesh Kumar, a resident of Bareili in UP, Chandan Rai from Banka, Bihar, Amit Agrawal from Punchkula, Haryana.
Interestingly, Aslam is the nephew of Samajwadi Party Mumbai president Abu Asim Azmi. 40-year-old Aslam was picked from Grant Hyatt hotel in Vakola in Santa Cruz. The special cell headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Yadav raided the hotel room and arrested him, said sources. Police said he used to run the drug cartel from the hotel room.
On June 6, a specific information was received in Special Cell SWR office that a consignment of Premium quality drug known as 'ICE' has been consigned from Mumbai for supply in USA and UK. The information further revealed that the drug traffickers would come in their Mahipal pur based office known as "Prefer Logistic Pvt Ltd", for packaging.
Accordingly, the above team swung into action and laid a trap at Mahipal pur Extn area along with the informer. Later, Avdhesh Kumar, was arrested from the location. He was surrounded and overpowered by members of the raiding team.
"Based upon the disclosure of Avdesh Kumar, his employer namely Amit Aggarwal and Manager Chandan Rai were also arrested and interrogated in furtherance of the investigation of the instant case. Amit disclosed that the consignment was sent by Abu Aslam Qazim Azmi alias Aslam from Mumbai," said Yadav.
MDMA, which is also known as ICE has become a popular drug, in part because of the pseudo-positive effects that a person may experience within an hour or so after taking a single dose.
Those effects include feelings of mental stimulation, emotional warmth, empathy toward others, a general sense of well-being, and decreased anxiety.
In addition, users report enhanced sensory perception as a hallmark of the MDMA experience.
