Slew of eco-awareness programmes launched by Ghaziabad Authority

On the occasion of World Environment Day on Monday, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) conducted various programmes to create awareness among the people to join hands and make efforts to protect and preserve the environment.
In the wake of this, the GDA vice-president Kanchan Verma flagged the programme and released green coloured balloons merrily towards the sky.
All the staff members and local people present took an oath for preservation and protection of the environment.
In the oath, the people abide by the protection of the environment and all the features such as forest, water, wildlife and air.
People also took the oath to start by planting a tree each on the occasion of Environment day.
"There is a need for spreading massive information and education to create awareness among the people at largeabout the importance of personal hygiene and clean and green surroundings.
"Every individual should act to preserve the natural environment and its components," said a senior official from GDA while hosting the programme.
The event was later followed by a painting competition which was conducted by the authority, where students from over fifty different schools took part and showcased their talent.
They were also taught the importance of planting trees and protecting the environment.
It is to be noted that Ghaziabad Development Authority has plans to plant 1,10,350 trees in the district in the year 2017-18.
