Home buyers protest against builder for delay in possession

A group of homebuyers from Greater Noida West staged a protest on Sunday morning against Earth Builders over the delay in delivery of flats.

The home buyers were annoyed of the builder for leaving the construction work stagnant and making them face hardships even after making full payment of their flats.

At around 11.30 am, the homebuyers of Earth Towne gathered at the builder's site and raised slogans against the builder and the authority. The protest continued for around two hours with hundreds of home buyers, including ladies, children and senior citizens.

"We have time and again requested the authorities and builders to complete housing projects on time as thousands of homebuyers are suffering due to delayed delivery and other discrepancies, but there seems to be no action in this regard. As nobody is heeding to the voice of common people, we decided to stage a protest," a buyer said.

The homebuyers' has warned the UP government of intensifying its campaign if their demands are not met.

"Even after the implementation of Real Estate Regulation Act, the builders in Greater Noida West have not improved. We have also visited the builder's corporate office but found locks over there. There has been no work done on the builder's site since past 4-5 years. All we can see are the cemented skeletons," said Abhishek Bhargava, a buyer.

According to him, the builder was supposed to hand over the possession to them in 2015 but looking at the construction work, they do not have any hopes of getting our homes in next two or three years. "The builder has cheated thousand of home buyers and we want strict actions to be taken against him," Bhargava added.
