To seek justice, the infuriated victims of Greater Noida's Jewar gang-rape and murder case met the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath on Thursday.
After a patient hearing, the CM announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family and also free education to the children.
"They were assured that they would get justice and the miscreants will not be spared", said an official.
Adityanath assured the victims that his government was committed to the safety and security of women in the state. He also said that criminal elements would soon be sent to jail.
The newly elected Chief Minister also called up Director General of Police (DGP) Sulkhan Singh and sought the progress into the matter. He asked the state police chief to expedite the action and nab the culprits as soon as possible.
"Our police teams are looking at all possible angles. We have formed four to five teams. The Bulandshahr and the Aligarh police are also helping in the probe," DGP informed the Chief Minister.
It's been more than a week to the horrific incident and the miscreants are still at large. "We have asked the cops to step up the investigation. We are also trying to collect the details of all such outsiders who were living in the nearby villages. Soon we will catch them," said Love Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
According to the incident, the women along with male members were travelling by a van to meet an ailing relative when they were intercepted at an isolated stretch of the Jewar-Bulandshahr highway, some 65 km from Noida. The assailant's gang raped four women of the same family and murdered one of the men.
