SDMC starts signature campaign for Delhi citizens

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday organised a mass signature campaigns for the citizens to express their commitment with the cause of the Corporation.
Citizens were asked to sign on a large boards installed outside the Civic Centre.
The venue witnessed a large gathering of citizens, resident welfare association office bearers and market association members coming out to express their commitment.
In a function organised at Najafgarh Zone, SDMC Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat was the first to put her signature on the installed board to launch the signature campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor stated that Delhi generates 9,000 MT garbage per day. The collection and management of garbage in such a substantial quantity is a challenging task.
"The citizens have been expressing their commitment about the segregation of the garbage at their source and put the wet garbage in green dustbin and dry garbage in the blue dustbin. Earlier the garbage was not being segregated and same had been releasing stink. Since the garbage will now be segregated and placed in two separate bins there will be no ground
for any stink henceforth," Sehrawat said.
