In a dastardly act, four burglars looted an ambulance that was returning with a dead body. The act turned ugly and inhuman when these miscreants looted the wife and daughter of the deceased.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Pataudi area which lies on the outskirts of Gurugram city. The deceased, Ram Lal, was a resident of Hakdar Pur village in Pataudi.
Amar Lal who was ailing for a long time, on Sunday wastaken to the city for treatment by his wife and daughter after his condition turned worse. However, on the way, Lal succumbed to his illness. The bereaved family then moved back to their village to commit the last rites.
However, at around 11:00 p.m., the wheel of the ambulance got punctured as the burglars had spread nails on the road. These armed men then robbed the grieving family and showed no sentiments towards their emotional state.
The robbers have believed to have stolen the amount that the family was carrying for Lal's treatment along with the jewellery being worn by the women. Based on the eyewitness, the robbers were drunk at a time of committing the heist.
The FIR was finally registered at Pataudi Police Station by Sudhir, the driver of the ambulance. Even two days after the incident, the cops have not been able to nab the burglars.
"We have begun the process to arrest the criminals and hope that soon there will be a breakthrough in the case. We are trying to identify the workings of the burglars to know whether these people belonged to any particular gang," said Tanya Singh ACP Pataudi.
This is not for the first time when such ghastly crime has taken place in Pataudi which is 20 kilometres from the Millennium City.
On January 28, a group of eight to ten burglars looted a commercial unit in the city and also gang raped two women employees of that unit. It was later known that one of the women was pregnant when she was manhandled.
The burglars are yet to be traced. In highlighting the challenges, the senior officials of Gurugram Police claim that most of the dreaded gangs which have committed recent criminal activities in Gurugram have come from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Mewat Further, sources also highlight that most of these gangs do not work with permanent gang members but replace it with alternate members after committing each crime so that the members do not get registered under the crime records.
