For science students, DU no less than IITs

With CBSE announcing its Class 12 board results on Sunday, science students are now pinning their hopes on Delhi University to provide a recourse since many of them have got a low rank in their JEE exams and want to avoid spending money in private educational institutions.

The Indian Institute of Technology maybe the pedestal of success for science students who want to pursue engineering but DU, with its science courses, is not far behind as it is attracting a lot of students each year.
"A particular interest has spiked in the field of statistics since analysis seems a hot field these days," said a university official, adding that "Statistics is one of the most prestigious courses in the university with cut off hovering around 95 per cent every year for the course."

Ritu, a student with a science background who secured 95 per cent, said,

"I have no interest left in engineering. I want to teach maths to others and for that, I am hoping to study Maths (Hons) from St. Stephens College."

"I had PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in Class 12. MBBS did not appeal to me and instead, would like to study B Sc (Hons) Botany to know more about the animals
and become an animal conservationist," said Rishika, who obtained 88 percent.
