Jewar victims assert they were raped, reject CMO's claims

New twists and turns are coming up in the Jewar gang-rape case. On Friday, the Chief Medical Officer ruled out the allegations of rape, based on preliminary medical examination of the victims.

However, on Saturday, the victim women expressed their disagreement with the reports and asserted that they were raped on gunpoint and will convey in their statement in front of the Magistrate.

On Friday, Dr. Anurag Bhargava, Chief Medical Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar had ruled out allegations of rape and denied of any signs of sexual assault found on women's bodies or clothes.

However, swabs have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Lucknow for further examination.

According to the CMO, reports from the FSL will finally confirm whether the victims were raped.

Reacting after the statement given by officials, the victims said they disagreed with the CMO's findings.

"We have been sexually assaulted and raped on gunpoint. Our relative died as he tried to oppose the assault committed on us. The criminals shot him for raising objection. We will record the same statement in front of the Magistrate. We don't want any compensation from the government. All we want is justice," said one of the four victims.

The final statement by the women was recorded under Section 164 before the Magistrate on Saturday.

Another revelation in the case came on late Friday, when a 40-year-old man who was dragged into the fields along with seven others in the car revealed that their assailants had asked if they ate beef.

"They asked us if we were Muslims. We nodded. They asked if we were beef-eaters. We said no. They then grabbed us and said they would teach us a lesson," he said.
The man admitted he had not mentioned this in his initial complaint at Jewar police station.

District Police Chief Love Kumar said the victims had not mentioned anything about beef to the police.

"They registered an FIR but did not mention this. We will talk to them to investigate the matter," Kumar said.

"Though we do not doubt the investigations and workability of the Uttar Pradesh Police, it has been over 72 hours since the incident has taken place and yet police has no clue about the criminals" some of the worried locals said.
