Two persons have been arrested by Delhi Police's Crime Branch, with 75 kg of ganja worth Rs 6 lakh in the international market.
The arrested persons use to supply ganja in Delhi after procuring it from Bengal and were caught while travelling with the drugs in Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express.
The Crime Branch had received information that on May 24, a woman Kanan Sarkar and her associate Rajeev Majumdar were involved in procuring ganja from Bengal and supplying it in Delhi.
The input was further developed by cops and they got to know that the two would reach New Delhi Railway Station, towards Ajmeri Gate side, from Dibrugarh Rajdhani at 2 pm and will be going to the city's Tughlaqabad along with a significant quantity of ganja.
A team of Crime Branch officers, led by ACP Pankaj Singh, was constituted. A trap was set up at the exit gates of the railway station and two culprits were easily apprehended.
"During the search of Kanan Sarkar and Rajeev Majumdar, five bags (two belonging to Sarkar, three to Majumbdar) containing parcels wrapped with brown colour cello tape were recovered. The parcels were found containing ganja. On weighing the ganja recovered from Sarkar and Majumdar, it came out to be 75 kg," said Madhur Verma, DCP Crime.
