Being misguided by volunteers, say DU aspirants

With the authorities is not releasing any guidelines or bulletin to guide them, numerous students and parents are often getting wrong information from some volunteers at the Open House session of Delhi University.

Manas, an applicant, alleged that some volunteers found at the periphery of the Conference Hall, are sharing wrong information among some aspirants who could not attend the Open House session. "I opted for Science in the senior secondary and wish to continue the same stream. But when I asked the helpdesk guys about admission in B.Sc Chemistry with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) subjects, they suggested me to choose another stream as course availability with these subjects is very low," said Manas.

"The deputed volunteers also told me to go for a semi-degree and assured me of a better future. When I asked about the semi-degree, my tutor advised me to go and get the confirmation from the department head," he added.

"When I asked about the semi-degree from a professor at Chemistry Department, he told me the semi-degree (four-semester) has no value both in and outside the University," the incensed boy said.
Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy Dean Student Welfare told Millennium Post, "They are post-graduate students helping students and parents on their own wish. The administration has not appointed any volunteers till now. Our trained volunteers will be joining the helpdesk on May 27."

Tuteja also advised parents and students to ask queries only from volunteers who are wearing their badges.
