Kidney racket busted by MBA student, 4 held

A 23-year-old man from Rajasthan busted a kidney racket along with the Crime Branch after his friend went missing because of the same in Delhi.
Jaideep was surfing the internet in his house in Sekar when he came across website advertising for a potential kidney donor. This site which offered a handsome amount to the donor reminded lead him to unearth the racket.

This MBA student then pretended to be a potential donor and waited for the call. Soon, he was contacted by Imtiaz who introduced him to Jayant Sahoo over the phone. These men settled for a sum of Rs 4 lakh as price of the kidney and asked Jaideep to visit Delhi.

However, on realising the threats involved in busting the racket all alone, Jaideep approached the Crime Branch and also a TV channel. After this, he in coordination with the cops went to meet the middlemen who gave him an accommodation in Delhi's Hauz Rani. He was also sent for counseling sessions with a woman named Surekha Pandya. Jaideep recorded his meetings with the middlemen and doctors on spy cams along with the Crime Branch.

"During the several meetings held, it was revealed that Jayant Sahoo had arranged for a new identity for Jaideep to fulfill the requirement and guidelines of the hospital as per the government rule. Moreover, all the forged documents under the name of one such Mr. Polepeddy Snayna Podma Phani Kumar having a photograph of Jaideep were kept ready," said Praveer Ranjan, Joint CP Crime.
Ranjan also stated that the requisite medical tests were conducted at Batra Hospital on the basis of forged documents under the name of Mr. Polepeddy Snayna Podma Phani Kumar. "All fake documents like Aadhar Card, Election Identity Card, Passbook of State Bank of India have been prepared in this regard to show that the complainant is one of the family members of the patient," added Ranjan.

Following this, the operation was scheduled on 25 May. The climax reached when a team of crime branch barged in and raided the hospital when Jaideep was lying in the operation theatre. The four arrested accused Jayant Sahoo, Sureskha, Anoj Patra and Birju Paswan were booked under section 18/19 & 20 of Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994 and 468/467/471/120B Indian Penal Code.

The twist in the story came when the veil was lifted off the doctors' panel. Jaideep was prepared by the accused of his interview with the panel just before the operation. But, acting smart on this, Jaideep gave some wrong answers but was approved for operation by the doctors. By this act, luck seemed to run out for these doctors who might be questioned by the crime branch.
" I wasn't scared. I wanted to unearth the whole racket. They would have lured many people into the trap. My friend is still missing," said Jaideep.
