The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chief Swati Jaihind on Friday issued a notice to Hindu College asking its management to ensure that females hostel fee should be equivalent to that of males.
In the notice, Maliwal pointed out that discrimination against female students should come to an end as the fees charged from the boys are much less.
Hindu College had informed DCW that the fee is higher for females as the college has not received any funds to construct the girl's hostel while
they had received funds to construct the boy's hostel.
Disapproving with the management of the college, the DCW Chief has asked the management to resolve the issue atthe earliest and end the on-going discrimination.
Further, she has also written to UGC Chairperson to direct Hindu College on the same.
Swati Jaihind said, "It's a matter of great shame that Hindu college is openly and blatantly discriminating against its girl students.
Instead of creating a conducive and equitable environment for them, their right to equality is being denied. DCW will leave no stone unturned to correct this."
