ASI, 2 constables suspended for assaulting property dealer

Seven days after a property dealer was allegedly thrashed by policemen in Prashant Vihar police station following a road accident, the Delhi Police has suspended one assistant sub-inspector and two constables on charges of assaulting the man in the police station.
The family of the victim also alleged that the cops took a bribe of 60,000 from them to bail out Amit Jindal.
Earlier the cops had tried to play down the incident and DCP of Rohini Rishipal told media that the man was drunk according to MLC report.
He also stated that he had an abrasion over his arm that he sustained while coming out of the car.
However, the family alleged that Jindal was taken to the police station after the MLC and was brutally assaulted the entire night.
The family and the locals protested over the alleged manhandling of the victim outside the Prashant Vihar police station.
Later on Wednesday afternoon, one ASI and two constables from Prashant Vihar were suspended.
"One ASI and two Constables have been sent to district lines, placed under suspension and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against them," said DCP Rohini, Rishipal Singh.
Jindal was allegedly thrashed by four policemen after his car brushed against their bike in the night of May 17 in Rohini's Prashant Vihar.
The victim alleged that he was then taken to the police station and was tortured the whole night by the cops. The man bears injury marks on his body.
Jindal who is a property dealer was returning after attending a function at around 1 am on the intervening night of 17 and 18 May.
When his car reached Prashant Vihar, it touched the bike of two policemen who fell down.
"My relative was thrashed by policemen who were drunk. He was brutally beaten up and taken to the police station where he was again thrashed. They demanded Rs 1 lakh as a bribe but we paid 60 thousand to bail him out, " said Sachin Gupta.
