Two bus depots in Noida to soon get free Wi-Fi

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is all set to provide free Wi-Fi internet access at two bus depots of Gautam Buddh Nagar from August 1.

The two bus stations of Noida and Greater Noida are among those who will get the facility soon. Apart from the bus depots, the free internet access will also be extended to the passengers travelling in all the AC buses running from the station in Noida's Sector 35.

"We have received orders from the state government to ensure that the installation of Wi-Fi connections gets finished under the mentioned time. The depot officials are given the task to choose the spots where equipment will be installed so that they cover the maximum area. The government has given the contract to a Mumbai-based company for installing the Wi-Fi devices at these bus stations between May 2 and July 31," said Satyendra Verma, assistant regional manager, UP Roadways, GB Nagar.

"This Wi-Fi service will be free of cost to the UPSRTC passengers. No money will be charged and the cost will not be included in the ticket fare either," added Verma.

The UPSRTC has hired private AC coaches on a contract basis and is equipped with the electric sockets near the seats. There are around 23 AC buses running from the bus station in Sector 35. Though the move has been welcomed by the commuters but they seek more attention to be paid towards the maintenance and cleanliness of the bus stands.
