Local hoodlum shot dead in Sagarpur

A 40-year-old man was shot dead by two bike-borne men in South West Delhi's Sagarpur area on Wednesday.

The police have so far not made any arrests in the case but believe that a local criminal was behind the killing.

According to a senior police official, the incident took place around 11.30 pm on Wednesday at Sagarpur's Mangal Bazaar.

The victim, identified as Mansingh, was designated a troublesome element by the local police.

While he was taking a stroll in the market, two bike-borne men chased him down the street and shot at him.

Some passers-by witnessed the entire incident, but did not help him.

After Mansingh collapsed on the street, he was taken to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival.

The police registered a case of murder at Sagarpur police station and are looking into the CCTV footage of the area for clues.

"One of the footages from the market was accessed and we could clearly see the two bike-borne men chasing the victim and shooting him. Our local teams are scouring the area and we are confident that the accused will soon be caught," said a senior police official.

Cops remained tight-lipped about the motive for the murder.

However sources have claimed that Mansingh may have been killed due to a personal enmity.

"The deceased Mansingh was also a local hoodlum who used to create several problems in the area. We are questioning his family to find out if he had a fight with anyone a few weeks before his murder," the source claimed.
