Four-yr-old electrocuted in Jamia Nagar after touching faulty cooler, family blames owner

A 4-year-old boy was electrocuted after accidentally touching an open cooler kept outside the jhuggi.

He was living in Noor Nagar of Jamia Nagar in South East Delhi.

The family has alleged that they on several occasions they had asked the owner of the cooler to get it checked as it was faulty. The boy died on spot.

"We had asked the owner on several occasions in the past one and a half months to get the cooler checked by the electrician.

But, she just did not pay any heed to our concerns. My brother died because of her negligence," said Fatima, the victim's sister.

The deceased, Ayaan, slipped from her sister's lap in the morning and moved outside the jhuggi.

The cooler was left unattended outside with an open lid.

As soon as the boy touched the cooler he got electrocuted. Though the family members soon unplugged the cooler but the boy could not be saved.

The doctors at the Holy family hospital declared him brought dead.

The cops were immediately informed about the incident.

"We have registered a case under section 287 and 304A of IPC and investigating the matter," said a senior police officer.

The family has put the owner at fault because inspite of repeated requests, she had kept the cooler unattended.
