Two key players of the interstate drug cartel have been arrested with a seizure of 22.5 kg of party drug Ephedrine by Special Cell team of Delhi Police on Wednesday.
A team of Special Cell of South Western Range led by Inspector Vinay Kumar, Inspector Vijay Kumar and Inspector Pankaj Singh under the supervision of Akhileswar Swroop Yadav, ACP has busted the drug cartel.
The drug found in the possession of the two accused, Ashok Kumar (45) and Lalmuankima (29 ) is worth more than Rs 22 crore in international standards. The Maruti Esteem car and mobile phones used in drug trafficking have also been seized. The duo disclosed that they used to prepare ecstasy (party drug) with the help of Ephedrine and then supplied them to rave parties in posh areas of Delhi, Chandigarh, Mizoram and NE states and some parts of Punjab.
The Special Cell in its tirade against the drug traffickers has busted several narcotic drug cartels in the past by arresting its members and also recovered huge consignments of drugs.
Since the last two months, Special Cell was working on drug Cartel involved in the supply of premium quality of 'Ephedrine' and ecstasy (MDMA) in rave parties in posh areas in Delhi, Mizoram, North Eastern States and other parts of India.
This information was developed by Special cell and it was revealed that Ashok Kumar residence of Delhi along with his associate was procuring premium quality of Ephedrine from Zirakpur, Punjab. He along with his associates used to supply Ephedrine and ecstasy to his clients.
"We had information that a consignment of a Premium quality of Ephedrine would exchange hands near village Pochanpur, Dwarka in the evening and drug traffickers would come in Maruti Esteem car on May 15. A trap was laid and the two men were arrested," said Sanjeev Yadav, DCP Special cell.
