Sikkim girl's rape: Gurugram police release sketch of one suspect

The Gurugram police on Monday released the sketch of one of the three culprits accused of raping a 26-year-old girl from Sikkim.

Earlier, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting of eight senior Gurugram police officials, headed by DCP (Crime) Sumit Kuhar, was constituted to investigate the case.

Besides speaking to the woman, the SIT on Monday also spoke to the friends of the girl who she had met on Friday night. It is also trying to find the car where the incident of gang rape occurred.

"Women's safety is top priority with Gurugram police. Any untoward incident is and will always be treated with utmost seriousness," said Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar.

At around 1.30 am on Saturday, the woman who resides in Sector 17 was on her way to home when she was forcefully dragged into a car and gang raped.

The culprits then raped her in turns and dumped her at a desolate place in Najafgarh. Later with the help of a biker and Delhi Police personnel, the woman reached Gurugram and registered her complaint at the Sector 18 Police Station.

Chief Minister ML Khattar also assured the citizens that justice will prevail in the case.
