UP STF nabs sharpshooter, close aide of Sundar Bhati gang

The Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (West) along with Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Saturday evening arrested an alleged sharpshooter and close aide of the Sundar Bhati gang from Knowledge Park-3 area.

The accused, identified as Vijay Nagar, a resident of village Junedpur in Greater Noida, was involved in a number of cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, theft and arms act in NCR.

Police also recovered a country-made pistol and couple of live cartridges from his possession.

Police said that the accused was planning to murder an hotelier in Greater Noida with the help of other gang members.

The crime failed as eight of his gang members were arrested by Delhi Police a week ago.

"Vijay was hired for Rs 12 lakh to murder the hotelier. He contacted a wanted criminal Ravi who linked him with other shooters," said police officials.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (STF) Raj Kumar Mishra said they acted on a tip-off after which a team under the supervision of the Additional superintendent of police Rajeev Narayan Mishra laid a trap and arrested him.

"A fresh FIR has been registered against Vijay in Knowledge Park police station and we are also trying to nab the other gang members by interrogating the accused," he added.

The accused said that Ravi was given the charge to conduct the entire operation and revealed that if they succeeded, they would have been given the full amount as promised which would be distributed among all the members.
