Four men were arrested by South West district police on Thursday for robbing a coupon recharge outlet in broad daylight of Rs 16 lakh in Nasirpur area.
The four accused – Manoj, Ashish, Deepak and Ravi Kumar – were arrested by cops from Rajapuri area.
So far, police have managed to recover Rs 5 lakh and are tracing the remaining amount.
Mounting debt and crushing rent payments reportedly united the four men, who decided to rob two employees of the coupon recharge outlet at gunpoint in South West Delhi's Nasirpur on April 15.
After the robbery, the accused went underground and the CCTV footage of the spot did not help much to identify the culprits.
"The footage was blurred. We were unable to identify their faces.
We went around the area and questioned the employees of the company, but got no substantial leads," said a senior police official privy to the investigation.
However, the police officers got lucky when they found an abandoned scooty near Dabri Chowk.
The finger prints were analysed and the accused were later identified.
"The accused paid some of their debts, also sent a portion of the money to a contact in Jharkhand and gambled the rest of the money,"the official added.
