GNIDA Chief inspects Bajra ramp on Yamuna Expressway

Chairman of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Dr Prabhat Kumar on Friday examined the status of the entry/exit ramp at Bajna in Mathura on Yamuna Expressway.

The Bajna ramp construction work was supposed to get completed by March-end but missed the deadline.

The Chairman also conducted an inspection of other development and infrastructural projects along the Expressway. The construction status of Patanjalai Food Park and various residential projects under the authority was also examined.

According to a senior official from YEIDA, this was the first inspection done by the Chairman since he has taken the charge. The inspection was done to monitor the progress of the pending work.

"He directed the concessionaire of Yamuna Expressway, Jaypee group to finish the work on time or face adverse consequences. The Chairman also asked the operator to implement safety measures to ensure road safety and benefit the commuters," said an official.

According to the officials, the Bajna ramp is necessary to streamline traffic near the area, which is 67 km from Greater Noida. Residents and local farmers have been demanding measures to decongest the stretch for long.

At present, motorists have to travel an additional distance to access the expressway. This not only increases commute time but also compounds traffic congestion on the road.
