Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said that Aam Aadmi Party MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj's entry into the Assembly with a fake electronic voting machine (EVM) and a hacking demo in presence of the Speaker and Chief Minister and passing of an illegal resolution for conducting elections through ballot papers was condemnable.
The party said it will a file a complaint with the Lieutenant Governor in the matter and demand an inquiry. BJP also condemned the maltreatment meted out to former Minister Kapil Mishra by his party colleague, saying it reflects the dirty work culture of AAP.
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said that whatever happened with the EVM in the Assembly is not only an insult to the legislative process, but an insult to the Election Commission and the widely respected the Electoral System of India at an international level.
"Under the Section 6 (2) of NCT of Delhi Act, 1991, it has been clearly provided that the power to call, suspend or prorogue the session of the Assembly shall vest unto the LG. But ignoring all constitutional provisions, the Arvind Kejriwal government issued the proclamation to prorogue the session," said Tiwari.
Tiwari stated that as per the rules of the House, no member can bring a 'prohibited item' in the House. "As per the Parliamentary proceedings rules, even a glass of water will be placed on the table of the House only with the permission of the Speaker. It is a surprising matter and needs to be inquired as to how the MLA managed to enter the House with a fake EVM," Tiwari said.
"Due to his despotic nature, many of his founding members deserted Kejriwal, many member of his Legislature Party started avoiding him and he has to give them lucrative political appointments again and again to keep them in the party and the people are totally disconnected due to his corrupt administration," Tiwari stated.
