'Autowala' along with six others, arrested in 'Wedding Bus' dacoity

A day after the wedding bus ferrying 'baraatis' was robbed off their jewellery by three armed men, the police have arrested the main head of the group along with six of his associates in South Delhi's Neb Sarai on Tuesday.
The deadly criminal, Rajkumar, who already has 12 cases registered against him had orchestrated the entire robbery.

Also, he tried to mislead the cops by a concocted story stating that his auto-rickshaw which was used in crime was stolen.

On Sunday, at around 2:25 am, when a group of passengers was returning from Swaroop Nagar to Sangam Vihar, their bus was intercepted by an auto-rickshaw near Devli.

Before the driver and the passengers could understand anything, three armed men got up on the bus and robbed the women off their jewellery at gunpoint.

During the loot, two more two-wheelers carrying two persons each accosted the bus from both the sides. After the robbery, the two wheelers left towards Devli while the auto headed towards MB Road. The complainant had memorised the number of the auto.

Soon, the auto involved was located by the police. At the same time, a PCR call was received from one Rajkumar who claiming to be the owner of the same auto reported that his vehicle has been missing since the previous night.

"It appeared that the dacoity was conducted by using a stolen auto. However, when the auto was examined, the signs of theft were absent. This raised the suspicion and the caller was requested to join the probe. When he went missing and switched off his mobile, we knew that he was the man behind the robbery and soon arrested him," said Ishwar Singh, DCP South.

Later, Rajkumar was interrogated and on his instance, six other accused, Manish, Maan Singh, Karambeer, Kuldeep, Azmal and Vipin were arrested. All of them have been involved in other criminal activities.
For the security of the public, cops have advised that emergency Apps like Himmat of Delhi Police should be downloaded as they can be activated by simple clicks of a keypad without alerting the perpetrators of such
ghastly crimes.
