Bus ferrying wedding party robbed by trio

In an exclusive loot of only jewellery, three men robbed a bus full of passengers returning from a marriage ceremony at gunpoint in South Delhi's Devli on Sunday night.

The bus with approximately 45 passengers was returning from Swaroop Nagar to Sangam Vihar when it was intercepted by three men in an auto.

They fled in the same auto after the loot.

Interestingly, the robbers did not loot mobile phones or any cash from the victims.

"An auto came from the wrong side and stopped our way. I had to stop the bus.

Three armed men, all in their twenties got inside and held the gun on my head. The two others went on a looting spree and robbed the women of their jewellery," said the bus driver, Pritam.

The incident was reported at around 2:25 am on Sunday when one of the passenger Mithlesh told cops that she along with other ladies and old persons were coming from Swaroop Nagar to Sangam Vihar after attending the marriage ceremony of her nephew in a hired private bus.

Following the interception, the miscreants started beating the bus driver and one person showed a weapon to the complainant and snatched all jewellery.
Sources in Delhi police stated that one person has been detained in this case.

"In this regard, a case under section 395/397 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and the investigation is in progress. We have
identified the auto," said Chinmoy Biswal, Additional DCP South.
