Expelled AAP member Amanatullah finds spot in Assembly Committee

In a move to boost formation of Assembly committees for the year 2017-18, Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Friday approved constitution of the Business Advisory Committee, Rules Committee, Committee on Privileges, Committee on Ethics, Committee on Welfare of Minorities, Committee on SC/ST Welfare, Committee on Welfare of Students and Youth and the Committee on Welfare of Women and Child etc.

The Speaker also nominated as Chairman of the Committee on Welfare of Minorities to Okhla MLA and recently suspended Aam Aadmi Party member Amanatullah Khan. Goel also inducted Amanatullah as a member in two other Assembly Committees.

The Speaker further constituted a Special Inquiry Committee, aimed at investigation of alleged irregularities in awarding of a contract to M/s ESP India Private Ltd by the Delhi Transport Department, wherein, Rajesh Gupta was nominated as the Chairman and Amanatullah was nominated as a member.

In addition to Amanatullah, the Speaker nominated another expelled party member Sandeep Kumar as a member to Committee on SC/ST Welfare. Kumar, a former minister, was terminated from the AAP-led Delhi government after his alleged involvement in a sex scandal came to light. Kumar was appointed as Delhi's Social Welfare Minister after former partyman Jitender Tomar was removed from the post, owing to a fake degree case.
