DDA: MPD 2041 will be ready by December 2021

New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has completed the first phase of its new Master Plan for Delhi 2041 (MPD 2041) project, which pertains to Baseline and Data preparation, officials here said on Friday, adding that the new MPD will be finalised by December 2021. Officials have said that the works under this project have been classified into four broad categories – Baseline and Data Preparation Phase; Programmatic Sector Phase; Enabling Phase; and the Implementation Phase, of which the first one has now been completed. With constant monitoring from the Action Committee and the

Review Committee, the plan is set to be in action by January 2022.

The DDA has so far identified 10 sectors to analyse, with experts from the fields closely working with 30 core agencies and more than 30 non-core agencies, spearheading the 10 respective baseline groups for these sectors. These sectors comprised environment, shelter, economy and employment, land, heritage, water, power, solid and liquid waste, social infrastructure and transportation.

DDA officials also said that Focus Group Discussions are regularly being organised to take inputs from experts and resource people in the city with potential to contribute to this next Master Plan. 16 such discussions on various issues ranging from gender sensitivity in planning process to bio-diversity has been held so far.

Interestingly, the preparation for the MPD 2041 will also include a robust citizen consultation mechanism through an interactive website, which will be up shortly. The initial portal to invite queries, observations and suggestions for the Master Plan has already been put up on the DDA website.

The DDA said that to keep up with the pace of evolving technology, this Master Plan will use aircraft and drones to register LiDAR/ortho image-based GIS mapping of the entire Capital city, especially with respect to analysing existing land use and building use in the city. The Request For Proposal (RFP) has already been put up on the authority's website.
