DCW helps cancer patient get docs seized by husband

The Delhi Commission for Women's (DCW) intervention helped a cancer patient procure her medical records and educational documents which were forcefully taken by her husband. This was acting as a hindrance in the woman's treatment in AIIMS and Apollo Hospital.

The cancer patient victim approached the Commission with her complaint that her husband had beaten her and thrown her out of their house. Also, her husband has refused to give away her medical records which were important for her treatment. He has refused to give away her educational documents which included her admit card for her PhD entrance examination.

Later, the cancer victim also told the Commission that she got married in 2009 and had a 6-year-old daughter. She was infected with the disease in 2015 and had been undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
The victim further added that on February 12, after having an argument with her husband, he took away all her medical and educational documents. After the victim reported her complaint, Sarah Chaudhry, a member of the Commission immediately registered the case and dispatched a Mobile Helpline Counsellor (MHL) to the victim's matrimonial home.

Also, the Commission helped the woman get back her important documents which included her medical reports, educational certificate, her daughter's school
certificate and other necessary documents including the fees slip, etc.
