DCPCR seeks info from District Magistrate on kids affected in Delhi fire
New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has written to District Magistrate (DM) seeking details regarding children who were affected in Anaj Mandi blaze which killed 43 people inside the factory.
According to child rights body, they have taken cognizance of a news item related to Anaj Mandi fire.
It was reported that many factories were operating under the building without license and NOC from the fire department.
There was no fire extinguisher. "The hazardous condition in such establishments is a matter of grave concern for all. This tragedy would have resulted in more damage and loss of human lives had it caught other buildings," Roop Sudesh Vimal (member DCPCR) told DM.
The child rights body had sought an action taken report (ATR) on the incident.
The commission had asked DM to provide details on the number of children affected in the incident, medical/postmortem report of the affected children, in how many days, would the compensation approved by CM Delhi would be released to the children or families of the children, what is the status of FIR? Has FIR been filed under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986 and JJ Act?
"We have also asked DM to provide details whether the employers of factories where the incident took place had conducted police verification and whether any complaint was filed regarding child labour in last three years from the area," said Vimal.
