DCPCR begins inspection of shelter homes at night

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has started visiting the shelter homes in Delhi. The Delhi government body under the women and child department, DCPCR has formed three teams who are visiting the shelter homes at night. After the scary reports of the Bihar shelter home cases of sexual assault and rape of children staying at shelter homes, the Delhi government took the step.

The DCPCR teams are visiting the shelter homes in midnight with the members and also talking to the girls regarding the problems and situations they are facing at the shelter homes. "We are a watchdog of the government and on the basis of our experience we make reports and submit to the government," said a member. The DCPCR teams are also taking help from the child line team and the members of child protection units at the local level. On the basis of the experience and finding, the DCPCR will prepare a report and submit it to the government. They will also recommend the steps they feel to be implemented in their survey. In Delhi, there are nearly 125 such shelters.
