Daughters of Delhi Police personnel bring laurels to family, force
New Delhi: Namita Sharma, Pooja Gupta and Kanishka Singh have two things in common, they all have cleared UPSC and all three are daughters of Delhi police personnel. Namita Sharma who secured 145 rank in the UPSC is the daughter of an Assitant sub-inspector Charan Singh posted in the licencing department. Pooja Gupta who secured 147 rank in UPSC exams is the daughter of ASI Rekha Gupta who is posted in North District police control room. Kanishka Singh, who secured 416 rank in UPSC is the daughter of Bhoop Singh who is an inspector with Delhi Police in West district.
Namita Sharma is working with the Finance ministry in Mumbai. She completed her schooling from Lady Erwin in Delhi and later did B.tech from IP college. Namita says that after joing the finance minitry she was motivated to clear the UPSC exams. Originally from Uttar Pradesh's Shamli Namita cleared UPSC in her third attempt.
Pooja Gupta cleared the prestigious UPSC exam with 147 rank in her first attempt. Her mother is Assistant sub-inspector in Delhi police. "I was quite excited to see my mother in uniform. She inspired me at every moment despite being busy with her duty. It is because of her I have attained this position," said Pooja. Residing in Tri Nagar in Delhi, Pooja has done BDS from Delhi. Her father is an accountant.
As soon as the news of Kanishka's success spread in the RK Puram sector 12 police colony, neighbours and friends rushed to her house to congratulate her and her parents. Kanishka dedicated her success to her family with a special mention of her mother Anita Singh. Kanishka father Bhoop Singh is an inspector with Delhi Police. He is posted in West Delhi.
Securing 416 position in UPSC it was Kanishka's second attempt. She is presently doing her masters from Delhi University after completing her graduation in Psychology from Lady Sri Ram College. Kanishka has been quite active in extracurricular activities and was an avid debater.
Kanishka said the first time she appeared in UPSC she realised that if she seriously prepares for the UPSC she could make it. Kanishka then studied hard and eventually qualified the exam in her second attempt. "I am quite happy with my success.
The happiness is more as my hard work paid and I could fulfil the expectations of my parents who played an instrumental role in my success," Kanishka said.
