Daughter of Union minister's former advisor arrested for extortion
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have arrested the daughter of a former aide of Union minister and Ghaziabad Member of Parliament Ret Gen VK Singh on Friday for allegedly trying to extort Rs 50 lakh from his cousin brother to settle a police case against him.
According to police, the accused, identified as Ayushi Singh (29), is the daughter of SP Singh, who is a former advisor of MP.
Cops said that SP Singh was also arrested by Ghaziabad police in June as he was found using forged documents to seek party funds and carried out the fraudulent transaction in the name of the minister.
As per police, Ayushi tried to extort money from his cousin to get his name erased from a police case.
"Ayushi cousin brother, Pallav Kumar Singh, a native of Kavi Nagar area, has accused her of demanding money from him to get his name off a police case. The woman cited her political connections to lure the victim to pay her Rs 50 lakh for a case against him lodged at Sihani Gate police station of Ghaziabad," said Anil Kumar Shahi, Station House Officer of Kavi Nagar police station.
The officer further said that the victim Pallav along with SP Singh was found accused of taking money from the people in the name of party funds and using fake letter pad of minister VK Singh.
"In June 2019, Pallav and his uncle SP Singh were booked by Ghaziabad police under the section of 420 (punishment for cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 467, 488 and 471 (punishment for forgery) of the IPC. Singh was arrested by police in connection with the case. Apart from this, Pallav was also named in some other criminal cases as well in various police stations of Delhi and Ghaziabad," added Shahi.
Police officials said that the arrested accused will be produced before a court and will be sent to jail.
