CWG scam: ED attaches assets worth Rs 36.6 lakh
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), on Friday attached a flat in East of Kailash, worth Rs 36.6 lakh of Raja Aederi Consultants, in connection with its money-laundering probe into one of the Commonwealth Games Scam cases.
According to the probe agency, Raja Aederi had fraudulently acquired four contracts worth Rs 1 crore for work related to the upgradation and renovation of the Shivaji Stadium and Talkatora Stadium before the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
ED's investigation under PMLA showed that the consultancy firm had submitted false documents to secure these contracts and that this firm was further awarded contracts worth Rs 4.25 crore without re-tendering process, despite not having the requisite experience to execute the contracts.
Hence, as part of the proceeds of crime, the financial probe agency had earlier this year attached properties worth over Rs 94 lakh of Raja Aederi Consultants. Officials added that further probe is underway.
The ED had initiated its probe after taking cognizance of the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) FIR in the
case. The CBI had completed its probe in the matter and a trial court had earlier convicted director Raja Aederi and executive director Uday Shankar Bhat in the
case.
