Criminal carrying reward of Rs 25,000 nabbed after encounter in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: In yet another encounter in Uttar Pradesh, the Ghaziabad police on late Tuesday night arrested a dreaded criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The criminal has received bullet Injuries in his right leg in retaliatory firing and has been admitted to the hospital, said police.
According to the police, the arrested criminal has been identified as Tauseef (32).
A number of cases, including murder, loot and extortion, were registered against him in various police stations of Bulandshahr and nearby districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, circle officer, Ghaziabad, said, "We received a tip-off that two persons, with an intention to commit a robbery, are coming here. Police teams were deployed in the area to undertake vehicle checking. At around 12:15 am, the police spotted two suspects traveling on a motorcycle and signaled them to stop."
"Instead of stopping, they tried to run away. Police chased them and signaled to stop. Instead of stopping, they opened fire on the cops. The police had to make retaliatory firing in which one of the criminal got bullet injury while the other somehow managed to flee," he added.
Chauhan further said that Tauseef was wanted in a number of cases of murder and loot in Auriya district.
He was first booked in an attempt-to-murder case in 2009 for which he was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment.
However, Tauseef got bail from the high court after a few months of the imprisonment.
Since then, he was involved in several loots and other heinous crimes. In 2017, police had declared a reward of Rs 25,000 on his arrest.
Police have seized a TVS Apache motorcycle and a country made pistol from the possession of the criminal.
