Coronavirus: 17 patients cured and discharged in Ghaziabad, GB Nagar

Ghaziabad/GB Nagar: A total of 17 persons who had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier have been cured and sent home from different hospitals across Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar districts till Monday.

The total number of patients includes three Tablighi Jamaat members who admitted at community hospital Center (CHC) in Muradnagar of Ghaziabad and have also been cured and discharged from the hospital on Monday taking the total number of patients recovered from Coronavirus to six in Ghaziabad.

As per a senior officer of Ghaziabad medical department, a total of 51 reports were received on late Sunday night and all were negative. "Out of the total 51 reports that came on Sunday night, four patients who were admitted at CHC Muradnagar were tested negative in their secondary reports. These patients include three members of Tablighi Jamaat and a woman who is the wife of an employee of Ceasefire limited company in Sector 135 of Noida. All the four patients have been discharged and will be under home quarantine for next 14 days," said Dr N K Gupta, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Ghaziabad.

"Apart from these, 16 other medical staffers who had come into contact with a government doctor who was infected at Ghaziabad hospital, have also tested negative. Around 32 residents from hotspot areas of Ghaziabad were also tested negative in Sunday's reports," the CMO added.

Till now, six out of 27 persons tested positive in Ghaziabad have been recovered and discharged from the hospital.

In Gautam Buddh Nagar, which has reported highest cases of Coronavirus, 13 patients were cured and sent back home. However, two of them were again admitted to Greater Noida Institute of Medical Science (GIMS) after their third sample during the discharge was tested positive. The patients include a 21-year-old woman from Sector 137 and a man from Sector 128, Noida. Earlier, both of them were discharged following two consecutive tests that came out to be negative.

On Monday, GIMS achieved a new milestone towards COVID-19 care by introducing a molecular testing lab for infected patients. Officials said that the new facility is certainly a boon for the patients as now report will be available within 24 hours, which certainly improves the quality of patient care and reduces the psychological stress of the suspects waiting for their reports.

Meanwhile, four persons tested positive for Covid-19 from GB Nagar on Monday. The new cases have come from a residential society in Sector 62 of Noida and both are from the same family while the other two are from separate areas in Greater Noida. The total number of positive cases in GB Nagar rose to 68, out of which 57 cases are active.
