Cops working hard to nab other accused in gang rape: Rewari SP
Gurugram: Rahul Sharma, Rewari's new superintendent of police, on Monday met the 19-year-old rape survivor who is being treated in Rewari Civil hospital. After meeting her, the IPS officer expressed satisfaction over the health of the former CBSE topper. He also mentioned that the Haryana police was working hard to nab all the accused who are still at large.
The Rewari SP also stated that it was not only the arrest that was the main objective of the police force but also the faster conviction of the culprits.
"We are working in coordination with the special investigating team (SIT) and providing them all the help in the case. Our main objective is not only the arrest of all the accused in the case but also to ensure that there is a faster conviction. We hope that there will be a fast track court that will be set up in the case," said Rahul Sharma.
Meanwhile, the three accused arrested in the case were remanded to five-day police custody after the Rewari court's order. The three have been identified as Nishu Phogat, Deen Dayal and Dr Sanjeev. While Nishu is one of the three main accused in the rape of the former CBSE, according to police official, Deen Dayal and Dr Sanjeeev aided in abetting the heinous crime.
Deen Dayal, the owner of the house apparently had rented his house to the three where they allegedly raped the 19-year-old on September 12. The police have also questioned the doctor who treated the rape survivor.
At a time when the three accused were sexually assaulting the teenager, they found that the health of the victim worsened. Fearing that she may die, they called the doctor to treat her. After the treatment, the three threatened the doctor to be silent about the incident to avoid any physical harm.
Amid all this, Chief Minister ML Khattar again provided assurance that all the accused in the case will be arrested.
He also issued a warning to those people who may be sheltering the two accused rapists who have been identified as Manish and Pankaj Fauji.
Enraged over the incident, the village where the rape survivors along with her alleged tormentors lived also held a panchayat and warned that who will be sheltering the two will be boycotted.
