Cops nab man who killed wife in train; discord suspected

New Delhi: A 40-year-old woman was strangulated to death by her husband inside a Delhi-bound passenger train. Police claimed that they have arrested the husband who tried to mislead the investigator but finally he confessed to the killing. Police found that there was also an insurance policy in the name of wife and they are investigating whether the accused wanted that money for which he committed the crime.

The accused has been identified as Abdul Hakim Ansari in Gorakhpur. On July 7, the woman's body was found lying in a train coach at Railway Yard, Old Delhi Railway Station. On July 23, the accused who had lodged a missing complaint of his wife identified the body as Meshar Jahan. On August 7, the postmortem report revealed that the cause of death was strangulation and asphyxiation. Millennium Post was first to report about the murder of the woman and also the investigation where cop suspected that the incident happened inside the train. "The relatives of the deceased had suspected that her husband may be involved in her death. Abdul Hakim Ansari was interrogated. His CDRs were thoroughly analysed," police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railway) Dinesh Kumar Gupta stated that during interrogation, Abdul disclosed that he had been married thrice but in last two years, his married life was not going fine, there were many issues, owing to which he was in frustration.

"He further divulged that the behaviour of deceased towards him was not healthy as such he wanted to get rid of her. The accused tried to mislead the police team and said that one Uttam Nagar resident and his two associates were involved in the murder of his wife on contract for Rs 1 lakh," said the DCP. The resident was interrogated, but his role could not be established in the instant murder. Abdul was put on many round interrogations in which he broke down. He claimed that on July 6 he took his wife Meshar Jahan to Anand Vihar Bus stand from Pankha road (Bus route No 740) on the pretext of getting her leg treatment, for which she was complaining for long.

They went to Simbhaoli bus stand from Anand Vihar Bus stand by a bus and visited an Ayurvedic doctor. Then they went to Simbhaoli Railway Station and after waiting for a while boarded in a vacant coach of the Moradabad passenger train for Delhi. On the way, before Ghaziabad, while Meshar Jahan was sleeping, he strangulated her with her dupatta and threw out the cloth and chappals in bid to destroy evidence.

Accused thought body would go unclaimed

New Delhi: Revealing about his wife's murder, Abdul Hakim Ansari told the cops that he boarded a train with his wife from Simbhaoli Railway Station,UP, situated 90 kilometers from the city. During the journey, the woman slept and finding it as a right moment, he took a cloth and started strangling her near the Ghaziabad railway station. She fell down of her seat but Ansari continued to strangle her.

"The woman was crying but there was no one in the coach. When the train reached another station, the accused hid with the body in such a manner that no one could see him through the window," added the sources. After confirming that she was dead, he threw the evidence and traveled with the body for more than one kilometer. He deboarded the train at Vivek Vihar railway station as he can easily dodge the CCTV cameras there. Later, the body was recovered from Old Delhi railway station.

After killing his wife, the husband thought that like every case of the unclaimed unidentified body, police would close the case. For further updates, the accused went to the Old Delhi police station on July 23. "He was carrying a photo of his wife who he had claimed to be missing. He showed us the photo which surprisingly turned out to be one of the body under police custody," added the sources. Further investigations revealed that on the day of the murder, he switched off his phone from 10 am on July 6 till 4.30 pm on July 7. Later he started calling his relatives to inquire about his missing wife. During interrogation, the accused also took the name of a few other people involved in crime.
