NEW DELHI: The Anti Auto-Theft Squad of South East District police on Saturday said it has arrested an interstate gangster wanted in the murder of a former public prosecutor and senior advocate Tripurari Sharan Sharma of Gopalganj district of Bihar in 2015.
Cops said the accused, identified as 36-year-old Wazir Ahmed alias Daddu Miya alias Seikh Mohamad, is a resident of the same district as the victim and a part of the notorious Mintoo Singh gang in Bihar.
Cops said that trap was laid at Sailing Road near Jamia Nagar on secret inputs. Around 5.30 pm on Friday, Wazir was seen coming from Kalindi Kunj side and on seeing the police party, he tried to run away. However, after a brief chase, he was overpowered and apprehended by the cops.
During his search, a loaded country-made pistol, along with five live cartridges, was recovered.
"On August 30, 2015, Daddu Miya and his associate had shot dead Advocate TS Sharma in his chamber in the broad daylight," said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East).
