Cops meet senior citizens on International Day for Older Persons
NEW DELHI: On the occasion of International Day for Older Persons, Delhi Police organised an interaction programme with senior citizens in South Delhi. The event was organised in the office complex of South District, Hauz Khas. More than 165 senior citizens attended the programme.
Since a large number of senior citizens are being duped by fraudsters online by luring them into big schemes and insurance policies. Delhi Police also gave a presentation on "how can we save ourselves from cyber crime". Some safety tips to avoid any untoward incident were also told by Joint CP Southern Range Devesh Chandra Srivastva during the programme. Further, the senior citizens were told about the "Tatpar" application which has been recently launched by Delhi Police. The app amalgamates all the websites and mobile applications of Delhi Police, and over 50 services which can now be accessed with a single touch in the app.
"A total 4,023 senior citizens have been registered in South District and they are visited by the beat staff regularly. During the current year, total 55,291 visits have been conducted," said Atul Kumar Thakur, DCP South. He further said that during the visit, their problems, health status, physical security of the house are looked into. Status of domestic helps, whether verified or no, is ascertained. Apart from this, senior citizens are suggested to display the telephone numbers of relatives, friends etc.
