Cops examining movement of Rajesh Bharti gang in the last few months
New Delhi: A day after the encounter in south Delhi's Chhatarpur area where four member of the Rajesh Bharti gang were shot dead, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has began connecting dots to figure out the gang's movement over the last few months in Delhi and other places.
Law enforcement officials are also searching for another member of the gang, who is suspected to have a farmhouse in south Delhi.
Police claimed that so far, the reason behind the deceased member assembling in south Delhi is unclear.
Sources told Millennium Post that during investigation, they found that many a times, the accused persons had came to Chhatarpur from other states.
"It can be more than six or seven times that the gang's movement was noticed in Chhatarpur area. Investigation is on to know their motives," said the police source.
Till recently, the gang members had been mostly active in Haryana.
However, over the last year, they had been carrying out crimes in Delhi.
The Special Cell had been tracking the gang for the last six-seven months.
Investigators claimed that like other gangs in Delhi who had been killing their rivals to prove their supremacy, the Rajesh Bharti gang did not indulge in rivalry, but only wanted to be the number one gang in Delhi. For this, they started killing persons and demanding extortion money.
Police claimed that using the money that Bharti got from extortion, he used to purchase costly weapons.
Among such weapons recovered by the Special Cell, after the encounter, six were either US-made or China-made.
"Wherever Bharti used to go, he would take three to four men with him, and also other vehicles. For maintaining such a lifestyle, he utilised his ill-gotten money," said a police officer.
At the encounter spot in Chhatarpur, the forensic team was busy collecting evidence for more than one hour.
They claimed Saturday's encounter to be one of the major gun battles in Delhi in recent past.
More than 100 rounds were fired between the deceased gang members and the Special Cell during the shoot-out.
The deceased men included the kingpin Rajesh Bharti, Sanjeev alias Sandeep Vidroh, Umesh alias Don and Viresh Rana alias Bhiku.
