Cops crack down on illegal parking in Noida

Noida: Intensifying their drive against illegal vehicle parking operational in the city, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Monday arrested three parking attendants from sector 60 area of Noida, said police. The action was initiated after the vehicles in these parking were found parked at unauthorized places and beyond the corridor identified by the Noida Authority to be used for parking purpose.
According to police, the arrested persons have been identified as Jivendra, Sudhir and Jageshwar. Two persons, Bhanu pratap and Bhupendra Singh Chauhan, who were the contractors of the parking managed to flee away from the spot after the police conducted raid. Police recovered Rs 16, 330 in cash which was collected as parking fee and two books of parking slip issued by Noida Authority from the possession of arrested persons.
"The drive was undertaken after we received complaints of road congestion due to these unauthorized parking near the companies in sector 60 of Noida. Police team reached the spot and arrested three persons," said Anil Pratap Singh, station house officer, sector 58 police station.
Police officials said that they would now conduct similar enforcement drives in other sectors of the city.
"We have warned the contractors of other parking of strict action if any vehicle is found parked outside the corridor identified by the Noida Authority," added Singh
However, despite the police's optimism, streets free of unauthorized parking in the city are a distant dream.
Over a dozen sectors in Noida remain chocked in the day, hours due to these unauthorized parking. These mainly include sector 57, 27, 15, 1, 2, 3, 33, 24 and sector 126. The administration has also turned blind towards them and no actions have been initiated against them yet. Lack of proper marking on roads to identify the parking corridor is also a major problem and even the motorists do not come to know the right place to park their vehicles.
