Congress to step up campaign

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday said that the Congress party was determined to win all the seven seats in Delhi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. She said this while addressing the Block Congress Committees falling under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here on Wednesday.

Sheila Dikshit appealed to the Congress workers to step up their election campaigns by making door to door visits and tell people about the programmes and policies of the Congress party and the vision and plans of Congress president Rahul Gandhi for the people. She said that people should be explained about the benefits of Rahul Gandhi's Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme (NYAY) for the poorest people of the country by depositing Rs 72,000 annually in the account of the woman of the family as the whole aim was to ensure that 20 per cent of the poorest families in the country could earn a minimum monthly income of Rs 6000 per month, which would benefit 5 crore families and 25 crore people.

She said the NYAY scheme will be implemented within six months after Congress assumes power at the Centre.

DPCC working president Haroon Yusuf on Wednesday held a meeting of the District Congress Committees of Karawal Nagar, Babarpur, Patparganj and Krishna Nagar which fall under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, to chalk out plans for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
